-Whisky- Distillery GLENGOYNE DISTILLERY PROFILE Type The Glengoyne Distillery Is Said to Have Been Founded In 1833.Glengoyne Distillery Lies In A Tranquil Wooded Glen On The Western Edge of The Campsie Fells.It Takes Its Name From Glen Region Guin, Or 'Glen of The Wild Geese', And Sits At The Foot of A Small Waterfall Tumbling From The Volcanic Plug of Dumgoyne Hill. Glengoyne Distillery Uses Only Specially Selected Unpeated Age Malted Barley I.E. Barley Which Is Malted Using Air From A Natural Fire And Not A Peat Fire. Thus Resulting In A Whisky That Is Generally Fairly Light. After Glengoyne Was Founded In Distilled 1833 It Passed Through The Hands of A String of Different Owners, Including John McLelland And Lang Brothers. They Changed The Name of The Distillery to Glen Guin Around 1875, And Then Back Again Size to Glengoyne Around The Year 1905. Burnfoot Is Another Alternative Name That Has Sometimes Been Used For The Glengoyne Distillery And Glengoyne Whisky In The Past.
